Big things moving: Singapore lubes reactor

News

Make way for Singapore’s latest addition – an 800-ton industrial beast poised to play its part in the production of energy efficient engine oils.

The reactor improves the quality of a base stock known as EHC, a Group II base stock. This in turn will help enhance the performance of engine oils and other lubricants. Deployment of the new reactor comes as more people across the region are investing in their first car. And with that comes growing demand for lubricants able to protect engines from wear and tear.

The Singapore expansion doesn’t stop there. Engineers are also working to expand the quantity of high-quality refined products ExxonMobil produces from the low-quality, heavy materials often found at the bottom of the oil barrel.

These new technologies are part of a complex industrial puzzle that, once complete, will provide the region’s fast-growing economies with the high-performance products they need today and well into the future.
